1970's Adidas Country- Made in France Please note, I am not an Adidas expert & am relying on the buyers expertise & research abilities to verify my research below.
- I've see a lot of older "Country's", but not many of these. Based on vintage ads and catalog photos, t
hese appear to be a very early example of this model, likely manufactured between 1973 & '78, I believe the "Country" was first released in 1973. From what I can tell the styling remained the same from around 1973-77 or maybe '78, before being slightly redesigned. Around '78 they added the "Adidas" logo to the heel & changed the parallel lines stitch pattern on the sides near the heel. I'm pretty confident in the above, but like I said, please do your own research, double check my work & ask questions.
- Structurally they are pretty solid, the leather is still very pliable and attached to the soles solidly throughout, there are no rips or tear outs, between the leather uppers and soles. The sole can be flexed, but the bottom most, textured layer of the sole does so some cracking along the perimeter in places. Understandably, after 40 plus years the sole is beginning to harden and is not nearly as flexible as it once was. To state the obvious these should not
be bought with the intention of wearing them, but as a collectable.
- I took lots of photos & from every angle for you to judge cosmetics, please review photos carefully for details. In addition to overall general wear, please note, there is quite a bit of wear on the front of the one of the soles, a small tear to one shoe tongues and some interior tears to the lining of the heel cup. Other notes:
- Men's size 10.5
- Made in France, it's tough to make out, but you can see the "NCE" in "France" in the one of the tongue photos.
- Made of leather & suede.
